  • Congratulations! to World Champion GM Alex Moiseyev who won the tournament. He and 2nd place Master Michael Holmes re-matched in the 7th round, agreed to two draws as their places were clinched. Anthony Bishop was third.
  • Our condolences to the family of Kenny Courtright of Mitchell, IN who died earlier this year. He was Indiana State Champion in 1970, 72, 77, 79, and 80.
  • Clyde McFarland, of Culver, Ind., won the title of Indiana State Champion by twice beating his rival James Allen, of Sellersburg. The two were tied at 13 going into the last round. Both men were coming out of retirement:  McFarland had not been in tournament competition for about 4 years, and Allen had last played in 1982.  Congratulations to all the players for some hard-fought contests.
  • GM stands for Grand Master, IM for International Master, WIM for Women International Master, and CM for Candidate Master, which are earned titles given to distinguish players by WCDF.  Ratings from WCDF January/June 2010 - No. 6
